Sewing Project #1 - COMPLETE

Yes, the long ago spoke of apron is now complete! Super excited about it - even attempting to take my own picture to show it off - super excited until my husband said "that is just fabric they gave you right?" Maybe even more exciting yesterday was that my Iowa necklace arrived - it was a Christmas gift from my parents and WAY back ordered but so worth the wait!

For Nata-wee

I got a message from another mom this week saying that the Wiener-mobile was at our local grocery store so Lincoln and I hustled over there after dropping Carter off at school. Why visit the wiener-mobile, you ask? Well, when your college roommate had a stuffed wiener-mobile and the mention of the words made her laugh, I thought, we must pose with the wiener-mobile for Natalie. And so we did - I will have to say, I didn't know what to expect but a basic mini-van (seating for 6, I believe) on the inside is not what I expected, I was thinking they would be roasting away inside or something - they were giving out little names for the kids for visiting- Lincoln's was "Little Links Lincoln" - pretty cute, I thought, although he wouldn't get near the wiener-mobile.

And with that I'll close with "I wish I were an Oscar Mayer wiener that is what I'd truly like to be and if I were an Oscar Mayer wiener everyone would be in love with me" everybody now....

Might be time for some real swim lessons for my littlest swimmer. He found this "deal" while I was getting the items in order for the Pass It On sale - it is the best example of buying something to try it - yep, it is kind of worthless, except if you are Lincoln and like to look like a goober and have your Coach Carter give you swim lessons in the tub - for that it works! It is very good, however, at making Sean and I laugh as he struts around in his "swim suit"! I was hoping to let this leave my house but I'm afraid that won't be happening after all!

Something that made me smile...

Carter's class makes these books that feature their homework assignments, today I was feeling kind of badly because I'd only had him do one of the pictures for this week (he made one and it was on the bulletin board & we got to keep it, but his friends' all had their 2nd one in the book and Carter didn't - we didn't do the 2nd because he'd decided to write it himself and it had taken about an hour & excessive amounts of my patience) anyway, when I read the book I found this inside and it made me smile.

I took all of 6 pictures while we were in Florida, I guess the difference is I wasn't documenting a trip for the boys! I got a full day of shopping in & a day at the pool as well as some great dinners and drinks with Sean. I read a book, a gossip magazine and all the way through a fashion magazine - all together that equals a successful few days away and the boys had a great time weathering the snowstorm with Grandma and Grandpa.

Linc and Mickey snuggled up tight. The last picture is of Lincoln, I keep thinking he's getting sickly as he's been a little stuffy and he slept yesterday for 3.5 hours (for the kid that doesn't usually nap that is a major nap!) but he seems just fine today, no new symptoms, few sniffles - maybe he just was being efficient and making up some sleep while we are stuck at home.

Snow...week?

Yep, we here in OK are having a snow week (3 days without school, unfortunately one of them Lincoln's one day at school!). We've been out playing but it is mighty cold out there and we don't last too long. Thankfully we had an uneventful trip to Target yesterday (many who where driving cannot say the same judging by the number of cars stuck and those forced to drive the wrong way on some streets) and even more thankfully we got a new Tom & Jerry movie to entertain the boys, we are getting down to the boredom stage, I've personally accomplished a lot (still more to do, however) but this morning we resorted to painting a wood crate that sits under the sink for fun because I had nothing else for them to paint. Maybe tomorrow we'll be back at school, and they again maybe not!

Saying goodbye

In a few days a good friend will leave for Oregon, Nicole and her family will be moving from one O-state to another. I'm so excited for her family and the adventure that they are about to embark on, still a little sad for me (boo-hoo) but so excited for them. Everything I hear about their new home just fits so well with their personalities and lifestyle and they are going to be incredibly happy there.

Of course, this is all easier to knowing that their family is all right here and that they will visit often and so we will still be able to see them. Her boys and my boys were so cute (well the big 3, excluding Lincoln) were giving each other hugs and a kiss or two.

And, by the way, posting this picture and accentuating my height is a bit hard for me, man I'm SHORT next to those friends! I have a theory on height and friendship but now is not the time to discuss that....

My sewing assistant...

As predicted Lincoln is fascinated by all things sewing - why, probably because there are lots of little parts and sharp objects. He sat and "helped" me today!

Sewing class

I'm learning to sew - it is a bit slow (3 classes in, and basically I can thread my machine and make a few stitches, have a smidge of fabric knowledge and have learned how to cut out a pattern) oh well, slow and steady - right? This is what I have to show for my efforts thus far - yep, some fabric with stitches but the fabric options in this world will be worth it in the end - check out my funky, to-be apron! Now if I can learn to see straight (yep, you read that right, I don't think I see or cut for that matter straight - cutting isn't think it is know) I'll be in business!
