Paybacks truly are hell!

So I vividly remember being about 3 or 4 and being told to go get in the bathtub and instead running out the front door naked - well I got my payback on that today.

We were out and about and had decided to eat the dreaded McD's yet again when my phone rang and Becky invited us to lunch at Red Robin - much tastier than McDonald's in my opinion and certainly nice to have someone to have lunch with - so we rushed over there to meet her and the kids. We had a relatively uneventful lunch - your usual kids under the table, spilt milk and stuff but somewhat uneventful. One of my bribes to get Carter to eat was that we could go look at the fountain outside when we were done which we did. Shortly after we got out there he decided that he should remove his shoes and run around the fountain - while I resisted at first, I finally decided - who cares it is over 60 and it really isn't going to hurt anyone for him to have cold feet. So he ran, then sort of disappeared and when I caught sight of him standing on the other side of a planter, I knew something wasn't right, just then up he leaps without his jeans on - luckily his frog undies were still on but his jeans were not! I chased him and got the jeans and socks and shoes on and was really thankful that he hadn't taken his underwear off but was rather mortified since we were in the middle of not 1 or 2, but 3 restaurants looking at the fountain. Yes paybacks are hell as I learn each and every day it seems! Mom and dad, I'm sorry about the running out the door streaking thing, now more than ever! I have no pictures of the event to share!

One Sexy Drink

So I've been working on recreating a martini like the Lavender Cosmo I had in Seattle - it was amazing - maybe good too because it was likely one of the first drinks I had after Linc was born. Anyway, I think I have it perfected and wanted to share. It is especially cool because I got some fab martini glasses and a great shaker for Christmas from my s-i-l, Gwen. If you want to come for martinis just call - I'll make them any time (well just as soon as Sean remembers to buy me some more vodka since I can't take the boys to the liquor store and they only sell beer in the grocery store AND they close the liquor stores at 9 PM in this state, it makes Texas look like rebels!)

1 oz. Absolut Mandarin (regular vodka will work)

1 oz. Fresh Lime Sour

1 oz. Cranberry Juice

Shake with ice and serve in sugar rimmed glass.

To make the fresh lime sour make simple syrup by combining 1 cup of sugar & 1 cup of water until it boils. Remove from heat and add 1 cup of lime juice!

I've also found my having cranberry juice in the fridge that I can ALMOST recreate the Sonic Diet Coke & cranberry but adding some of the diet cranberry juice to my diet coke - of course it isn't the same because you don't get the Sonic ice but it will do if Sonic isn't an option!

Well we had a bit too much excitement in Edmond today. We had several tornado's & many moments of panic. We were lucky that they kept to the northeast of our house by a few miles - although I haven't seen them showing "the path" yet, I'm sure they will tomorrow and it might have been a little big closer than that. I head on the radio what one never wants to hear - the coordinates for their neighborhood being given. The boys and I were out en route to pick up some cookies for Carter's V-day party tomorrow when the warning came & really rushed home to avoid the hail that was coming and I'm glad we did, we spend some time in our bathroom fort - luckily I had candy on hand today to coax them into the bathroom!

P.S. Sean say the specialist yesterday and has a badly torn hamstring that will heal on its own - AMEN, I'm not a really good nurse as I demonstrated after he had his wisdom teeth out!

We have such funny little men, tonight's dinner conversations was how Carter was cool, Lincoln was cool & Daddy was cool but mommy was not. Luckily daddy stuck up for me and informed the C-man that this was not a nice conversation. Carter has been obsessed with "dominating" (although it sounds more like dom-i-ating) at the jammie game - which puts daddy and C against L and mommy to see who can get jammed up first - unfortunately for me, Carter's team has been winning but we have our game faces on for tonight. Lincoln had a 15 month check-up this week and weighs in around 23 lbs. and 31 inches - he is the exact same percentiles as Carter so maybe they are just meant to be 50th on height and 25th on weight. Dr. E says he is a bit advanced for his age much in part to having an older brother to keep up with. I'm not sure if she was totally impressed by some of the things he can do like climb up on the toilets and wash his hands or getting to the counter to reach the phone. He moved to a booster seat at the table this week which has made him much happier at meal time & he's working on his fork skills and I'll have to say he might be a little more coordinated at it than his brother is! We noticed tonight he can eat with his right or left hand - maybe I have a chance yet at having a lefty and a blue eyed boy! The weekend was so nice that we played outside a bunch and went to the zoo -we are ready for spring - Carter askes all the time when it is coming, he'll say something like - "will it be spring after next Tuesday?" and I'll tell him that it is a number of weeks and he'll have to wait for Uncle Michael's birthday to be spring - the concept of time isn't quite there for him yet but he is excited about V-day this week, so we will be doing our Valentine's this evening & see how much of the candy we can save for his friends and not put in his mouth!

I don't know if I'll be able to recall all the craziness of the last week, there is just too much going on in this house sometimes!

We invested in some better cabinet locks to keep little Mr. Helpful out of our cabinets, it seems to be working but he is forever trying to figure them out, he sat on the bathroom floor investigating for some time when they arrived. He is also obsessed with water, the other day while I was getting ready and not paying full attention he looked like he was having a great time with a plastic cup - wonderful I thought, something that can't hurt him, only later when I went to the kitchen did I realize that he'd been getting water out of the fridge door and dumping it on our floor! He loves to make a mess with the water and unfortunately ours doesn't have a turn off button just a leaver. Carter has also found a new fun way to play in the kitchen, he's been enjoying turning on the faucet and spraying the floor - he's had many of his babies taken away for this but still thinks it is such a great game that he should play from time to time.

Carter told us quite the story at dinner last night. It started about how he and 2 of his friends from school were going to take a dump truck and a cement mixer too, I think, and pick up 2 of the girls in their class. Then the story went that they were going to all go to Mexico and he added that Lincoln could come along. I was in the middle of telling Sean that maybe he shouldn't play with the older kids in his class because I couldn't figure out why he was talking about Mexico and he said "isn't that were Mimi is going, Mommy" - well I guess I'd mentioned Mexico and it sounded like a good place to go - I don't think that he thought he'd be running for the border but this story freaked me out - imagination at it's best, I guess.

We are wishing Katie, Mimi, Grandpa & Samantha very happy birthdays this week! We love you all & you are all hitting milestone birthdays this year - probably the only one excited about their milestone is Samantha - Happy 5th to the youngest in the group!
